Declan
I don't think how you spin this I still think Dec will be off come the summer

With the implosion of the media darlings Leicester and the news that they are bracing themselves for the sale of Tielemans, would you fancy one of Ndidi, Barnes or Madison ?

Papers are reporting a dismantling of their team

If we got 120mill for Rice, add that to our already healthy pot we'd have about 30 million to spend !!!...... Just a little joke

Seriously, if we had 170 million to spend, who would you like ?

That's a serious wedge for us

If we sell Rice, I'd hope we'd have more than £170m to spend in the summer.

Remember Moyes was already sitting on £100m in January and did nothing about it. That shouldn't be forgotten about.

we might get one more year out of him - as both of his primary SUITORS are a fucking mess

Re: Declan
Was Moyes sitting on that money or was he told to say that !!! I have my doubts.

Thought one of these two threads (?) may have been about the threatened lengthy match ban from UEFA the press are on about (Times/Mirror) for his 'abuse' of the ref in Thursdays match. If it happens you can bet it will be before the Manchester City match when it would be advantageous for both Manchester clubs.

Hope we hear nothing more.

History should tell you that it never works out like that at West Ham.

Even if we go £150m for Rice, I'd be surprised if we then spent £150m in the summer.

He will get a 3 match ban which will only be in European competition
Was a stupid thing to say and deserves the ban

It will affect Europe only, not PL

Re: Declan
Makes zero sense selling him this summer no matter what is offered. We will get the same atleast come next summer.

Will already be too many outgoing and incomings this window let alone losing our star player.

Re: Declan
Ideally hold on to him until at least after the World Cup.

I suspect given the chance by Southgate he will run the show for England rather than just play the holding role like last year and his value will only increase further.

My only worry is that he's worth so much there's legitimately so few teams that can pay anything like the money we want for him, so he'll be sold for a sickeningly modest amount

Pedro 1:15 Mon May 9
Re: Declan
I think he will go in January.

No point selling now when he value will be higher in January. Also he will be in no rush to move ahead of World Cup.

He has a huge tournament to focus on.

I have a feeling we will spend big - very big in the summer. Will be a few surprise additions.

This will be with a view to try and encourage Rice to stay longer but club knows that have 150 million to come back once Rice does go.

Re: Declan
Apart from all the usual soundbites that have been trotted out a zillion times, i did hear also that with Noble going he wants to experience being a full time club captain for a season. he's very ambitious, our Declan.

Let's face it it's unlikely he'll be off this summer.

Re: Declan
Our problem is/ has been for a long time is attracting quality players and we end up shopping at the 2nd or 3rd table.
A class player like Rice would probanly sign for a champs league team for big money. So we'd have a drop in quality for our best 11.

The challenge for Moyes is to succeed and improve consistently so we can sign better quality players and improving young players who represent a risk (Benni, Bowen,) and not to spunk our money on has beens /not good enoughs ( Anderson - too inconsistent) / square pegs (Haller).

C'mon Moyesy son!

Ted fenton 11:10 Mon May 9

Agree Ted. I too am suspicious of the so called 100 million he had to spend but more about the hand of Sullivan in negotiating. Sullivan can make a deal or collapse a deal and has ultimate control. A derisory / low ball bid, loan to buy offer, refusal to pay agent fees or the infamous pay back schedule of 10 bob a week. Sullivan has many options for making sure no money is actually spent. And Moyes will not rock the boat after being out of work for so long.

Anyway, it’s just speculation of course and no one knows for sure and as always we could be completely wrong.

Focusing on the subject of the thread ( for a change :-) ) , I too think it highly unlikely Rice goes this summer.

Re: Declan
It's ultimately the lads decision if he goes or not, the club don't really have a say at this point. I hope he stays, since the Euros he's been mostly outstanding, turned into a real player. It would be a shame I'd we sat through the years of him developing and only got to see a season of him at his best. It's like Rio all over again.

I do t believe for a second that we had 100m to spend in Jan, nor do I think we'll find someone to pay 100m for Rice in the current climate. I hope we have some shit hot replacement lined up if he goes - of course we haven't.
